Description:
1. Reporting to the Vice-President Operations of HPL Hotels & Resorts, the General Manager is responsible both an operational and strategic perspective for the effective leadership and management of the Resort to achieve planned business objectives and goals while maintaining brand and company standards for guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction and internal processes.
2. The General Manager leads the Division and Department Heads to:
(a) formulate and execute strategic approaches and tactical actions within their area of responsibility and as well directly oversee day-to-day operating activities.
(b) implement, maintain and continuously work towards improving operating systems and internal process. In this role, designs and provides metrics to monitor and assess effectiveness and efficiency and as well as work with these Division and Department Heads directly to diagnose and search for acceptable and practical solutions to challenges.
(c) partner with corporate heads of Finance, Sales & Marketing and Human Resources to ensure integration of these complementary functions into the operating framework of Divisions and Departments in the Resort.
Requirements:
1. This position suits a career hotelier with a minimum of 16 years exposure in the industry that includes a demonstrated 3-year track record of managing a luxury hotel/resort as General Manager.
2. It is envisaged success in the position requires a leadership stature with the ability to gain immediate professional credibility through possessing:
(a) the capability to proactively provide sound operating advice and coach Division and Department Heads under his/her supervision primarily and other employees, where appropriate.
(b) the ability to communicate and influence at all levels through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion, tempered by a sense of humour, when appropriate.
(c) the ability to build effective relationships and influence positive outcomes through possessing a progressive and participative management style.
