Description:

  • Responsible for pre-opening activities and thereafter from both an operational and strategic perspective for the effective leadership and management of the Resort to achieve planned business objectives and goals while maintaining brand and company standards for guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction and internal processes. The Resort, an addition to the five properties in the Boutique Collection by HPL Hotels & Resorts consists of 31 keys in 20 units with a café, a multipurpose lounge/function room, an outdoor bar, a swimming pool and a dive centre (leased out).
  • Leads Department Heads to formulate and execute strategic approaches and tactical actions within their area of responsibility and as well directly oversees day-to-day operating activities.
  • Leads Department Heads to implement, maintain and continuously work towards improving operating systems and internal process. In this role, designs and provides metrics to monitor and assess effectiveness and efficiency and as well as work with these Department Heads directly to diagnose and search for acceptable and practical solutions to challenges.
  • Partner with corporate heads of Finance, Sales & Marketing and Human Resources to ensure integration of these complementary functions into the operating framework within Departments in the Resort.
  • Reports functionally to a General Manager who is offsite in another hotel in Malaysia managed by HPL Hotels & Resorts.
  • Will be based in a hotel in Malaysia managed by HPL Hotels & Resorts during periods where the Resort is not operating, estimated at 2 to 3 months within a 12 months period.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years industry exposure that includes a demonstrated 3-year track record as a Division Head with oversight of the F&B, Rooms division or both. This position is not open to candidates currently below a Division Head role.
  • Exposure within full service boutique hotels or resorts is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • It is envisaged success in the position requires a leadership stature with the ability to gain immediate professional credibility through possessing: (a) the capability to proactively provide sound operating advice and proactively coach Division and Department Heads under his/her supervision primarily and other employees, where appropriate, (b) the ability to communicate and influence at all levels through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion, tempered by a sense of humour, when appropriate, and (c) the ability to build effective relationships and influence positive outcomes through possessing a progressive and participative management style.
  • Due to the remote island environment, this position is best suited to an individual on single or couple living status without children.
  • It is envisaged candidates below 28 years of age will not have accumulated the career path and experience for this position.
  • This position is restricted to Malaysian citizens and individuals with prevailing right to live and work in Malaysia.
