We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Junior Sous Chef – Pastry & Bakery to join our Culinary team. This position reports directly to the Pastry Chef and plays a key role in delivering exceptional pastry and bakery creations. The Junior Sous Chef will assist in managing and coordinating daily pastry and bakery operations, including supervising team members in the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts and baked goods, while ensuring consistency and adherence to established culinary standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Pastry Chef in managing the daily operations of the Pastry & Bakery kitchen.
- Supervise and support team members in the preparation and presentation of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods.
- Monitor ingredient quality, stock levels, and proper storage to maintain freshness and minimize wastage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Support in training, guiding, and motivating junior team members to maintain high performance standards.
- Assist in menu development, recipe standardization, and new pastry creations when required.
Requirements:
- Diploma or certification in Culinary Arts, Pastry, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel or resort environment.
- Strong knowledge of pastry, bakery techniques, and dessert presentation.
- Ability to supervise and guide junior team members in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen operations.
- Creative mindset with attention to detail and consistency in quality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
