In collaboration with the Director of Sales and Marketing, as the Marketing and Communications Manager you will play an integral role in the development and execution of an annual integrated plan comprised of public relations, social media, and marketing communications strategies that support the Resort’s business objectives. Through strategic thinking and execution, increase awareness and visibility of the Resort and its food and beverage offerings, spa and wellness services and team, contributing to driving traffic and revenues.


Essential Requirements

 Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, Marketing, Public Relations preferred.  Graduate Degree in a related field is desirable

Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar capacity, preferably with experience in a 5 stay hotel

A proven track record within the Hospitality or Service industry, complimented by articulate verbal and written communication skills

Very good command of written and spoken English and the ability to converse in other languages an asset


Technical: Word Processing, design & layout e.g. Adobe suites, Database marketing platform e.g. Emarsys, WordPress for website content management, online platforms including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, TripAdvisor

Behavioral details: Convey a high level of understanding of the importance of attending to details.

Ensure accuracy by verifying work against standards or input of others.

Handle challenging situations with guests diplomatically.

Duties & Responsibilities

Public Relations

  1. Strategize the creation of new and extraordinary experiences, local partnerships, media communications, maintaining media relationships, and media visits/interviews/trade shows as needed
  2. Manage third-party PR agencies feeding them with relevant news and creativity from the resort and nurture partner relationships to motivate maximum results
  3. Maintain the Press Room and Image Library to ensure the best representation of Resort ensuring Press Releases and Story Starters are written to an excellent standard
  4. Attend departmental PR and marketing meetings to source relevant news from the respective teams
  5. Manage the design and/or coordination of Resort promotions and collateral (online & printed) adhering to the brand standards
  6. Manage the production and coordination of photo and video shoots
  7. Identify and execute local event participation and activations that reach our local neighborhood surrounding communities
  8. Manage PR related tracking and reports and assist with highlight presentations
  9. Track ROI and present results in owners’ meetings and to corporate office when needed


Digital Marketing

  1. Oversee the Resort’s digital strategy with a proactive and creative approach to all available digital and electronic marketing platforms. Design and implement innovative programs and campaigns that increase awareness of the Resort, its offerings and dynamic team via newsletters,
  2. Actively co-manage proprietary websites, ensuring alignment with the Resort’s positioning and business objectives and creative storytelling.
  3. Assist with digital marketing PPC and e-commerce (as needed) to ensure messaging and creative is aligned across all activities
  4. Ensure up-to-date information on partner and third-party websites
  5. Play a key role in reputation management, acting as a strategic communications advisor to management by keeping track of public attitudes, developing key messages and managing potential issues and organize responses.
  6. Support additional digital marketing activities such as SEO/SEM, PPC and digital advertising
  7. Track ROI and present monthly results of digital marketing efforts


Social Media

  1. Manage all property social media channels, curating and creating relevant and engaging content, telling a story consistent with our Resort while increasing following and engagement.
  2. Leverage social media channels to amplify key messages and activities, elevating the importance of search as well as strategic and creative communication
  3. Illustrate the power and resulting impact of a strategic social presence through effective monitoring and evaluation tools
  4. Pursue and coordinate social media influencer visits and utilize available programs to integrate proper User Generated Content
  5. Work closely with each department at the Resort to identify and produce social media content opportunities and have presence at relative Resort events
  6. Monitor social media conversations relevant to industry, luxury and local market
  7. Coordination of Resort participation in corporate global social media campaigns.
  8. Track social media progress and report on results



  1. Align management style, working practices and conduct with Gili Lankanfushi Maldives’ Corporate Values and policies. To comply with Gili Lankanfushi brand’s Code of Conduct at all times.
  1. Monitor and analyze trends, both locally and globally, within the luxury resort market and report to Director of Sales and Marketing.
  2. Ensure that all information is kept confidential, unless otherwise advised.
  3. Complete, to the best of your ability, any additional tasks within reason as requested.
  4. Support the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies and Procedures for joint Revenue, Sales and Reservation Team.
  5. Support the development and maintenance of the operational manual for the department.
  6. Perform additional duties as required by the Director of Sales and Marketing.
