Description:
As Assistant Sales Manager / Sales Manager, you are responsible responsible for driving revenue growth through proactive sales activities, strategic account management, and exceptional client relationship management. The role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, maximizing hotel revenue across all market segments, and ensuring outstanding service delivery throughout the sales process.
Working closely with the Director of Sales, Director of Revenue & Marketing, and other operational departments, the incumbent will develop and execute sales strategies, manage assigned accounts, coordinate client events, and contribute to achieving the hotel's overall business objectives. The role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- Proactively identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities to achieve individual and departmental sales targets.
- Manage and grow assigned corporate, government, travel trade, MICE, and other key market segments.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients through regular sales calls, networking activities, and client engagement.
- Conduct a minimum of five (5) sales calls per day and submit accurate weekly sales activity reports.
- Participate in trade shows, industry events, networking functions, and educational programs to increase the hotel's market visibility.
- Conduct regular hotel site inspections, client presentations, and familiarization visits to promote the hotel's facilities and services.
- Prepare and respond promptly to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), tenders, quotations, and sales proposals within 24 hours whenever possible.
- Assist in preparing competitive rate structures, quotations, and pricing recommendations for management approval.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of sales strategies that maximize:
- Average Daily Rate (ADR)
- Occupancy
- Revenue during need periods
- Food & Beverage and Banquet sales
- Revenue from all hotel facilities and services
- Identify market trends, customer needs, and emerging business opportunities to strengthen the hotel's competitive positioning.
- Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market developments, providing recommendations to enhance business performance.
- Work closely with Revenue Management to optimize pricing strategies and revenue opportunities across all distribution channels.
- Build long-term partnerships with corporate accounts, travel agents, event organizers, government agencies, and other business partners.
- Coordinate all events, group bookings, meetings, and functions under assigned accounts to ensure seamless execution.
- Confirm and communicate Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), Group Resumes, rooming lists, and event requirements with clients and relevant departments including Banquet Operations, Front Office, Reservations, Kitchen, Housekeeping, Security, and Finance.
- Ensure all client requirements are communicated accurately and fulfilled to exceed guest expectations.
- Follow up after events to obtain client feedback and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Maintain an effective account management and trace system to monitor business production, follow-up activities, and account performance.
- Ensure all sales documentation, contracts, reports, and client records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with hotel policies.
- Respond professionally and promptly to all client enquiries, correspondence, and requests.
- Monitor account production and recommend corrective actions where necessary to achieve sales objectives.
- Exercise sound cost control practices while ensuring guests receive excellent value and service.
- Promote sustainability initiatives, including responsible resource and energy usage within the department.
- Work collaboratively with all hotel departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Support, coach, and guide junior sales team members whenever required.
- Maintain strong internal relationships to facilitate effective communication and service delivery.
- Keep management informed of market intelligence, customer feedback, operational issues, and business opportunities.
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, and leadership in all business dealings.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct in accordance with the hotel's grooming and service standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules and responsibilities to support business requirements.
- Continuously develop professional knowledge through self-learning, industry research, and company-sponsored training programs.
- Understand and comply with all hotel policies, procedures, and brand standards.
- Perform any other duties or special projects assigned by the Director of Sales, Director of Revenue & Marketing, or Hotel Management.
Requirements:
- Degree in hotel management or business administration.
- Minimum 3 years working experience in the hospitality industry.
- Familiar with the hotel operations, available technology and all distribution channels.
